Chairman Paul McGahan of Christchurch

Paul worked for the DoC on the translocation and feeding of Hutton's shearwater chicks at the Kaikoura Peninsula between 2004 and 2008. He has a background in several successful Trusts/Incorporated Societies including K2 Trust (Project K), and Heritage Hokitika who established the Wild Foods Festival. He is now the manager for Heritage Destinations (Southern) for the NZ Historic Places Trust. Paul is currently a member of the DoC Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group.


Secretary Jodie Denton of Kaikoura

Jodie is a Biodiversity Officer at Kaikoura District Council and has worked in close partnership with DoC on Hutton's shearwater. She has successfully managed the Biodiversity Condition Funding for the owners of Puhi Peaks who have a colony of shearwaters on their land, including overseeing a project to build a helipad at 1600m for shearwater management. Jodie is a member of the Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group.


Treasurer Lindsay Rowe of Kaikoura

Lindsay was a scientist with Landcare Research and the NZ Forest Research Institute for 35 years before moving to Kaikoura. He assisted DoC on the translocation programme. He is a member of the Ornithological Society of NZ, has been banding birds since the 1950's holding a DoC banding permit and is currently working with white-fronted terns, variable oystercatchers and little penguins, amongst others. Lindsay is member of the Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group.


Geoff Harrow of Christchurch (the settlor)

Geoff is retired but has the passion for the Hutton's shearwater that has spanned 45 years since he rediscovered the birds at their breeding grounds. He is still as passionate and committed to their conservation as he was in 1964 and has actively participated as a volunteer in the relocation project, along with his wife Lyndsay. Geoff is a member of the Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group.


Tim Manawatu of Kaikoura

Tim is the Kaihatu of Te Runanga o Kaikoura who on their behalf enthusiastically supports the conservation of this seabird.


Teri Sonal of Kaikoura

Teri is a founding member of the Kaikoura Charitable Trust which started Whale Watching on the Kaikoura coast. Whale Watch is a multiple award winning nature tourism company. Teri is the human resources manager of Whale Watch, and is also a member of the Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group


Mike Bell of Blenheim

Mike has a long history of working with seabirds in NZ and overseas; and with Hutton's shearwater research work on contract for DoC. Mike is a member of the Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group and provides strong practical support to the Trust.


Phil Bradfield of Blenheim

Phil is the Biodiversity Programme Manager for DoC at Renwick and has extensive experience in management of endangered birds, is directly responsible for the management of the DoC Hutton's Shearwater programme, and is on the Hutton's Shearwater Recovery Group.


Nichola McArthur of Kaikoura

Nichola is the owner of 'Puhi Peaks' where a colony of Hutton's shearwater is located on her property. This area is protected by a QEII Conservation Covenant. Nicky has extensive business experience and an affinity with the natural environment.


Dennis Buurman of Kaikoura

Dennis is the General Manager and co-owner of Encounter Kaikoura, a very successful marine mammal and bird watching ecotourism venture. Dennis has considerable business experience and is an outstanding wildlife photographer.
